Dear FUSSA members,
How have holidays been so far?
Today marks the first day of Orientation Week and the whole plaza is already buzzing with people.
I hoped the new members have familiarised themselves with the campus and slowly recognizing places and learning the secret short-cuts.
The campus is indeed filled with many booths and not forgetting the free goodies that we can receive.
There are many fun booths which include the coke challenge, Commonwealth and Nab banks ‘spin the wheel’ game and many others.
There’s even a miniature arcade near the staircase for anyone to have a free play at it.
For the returning students, do remember to update your student card with the new sticker.
Last month on 28th January, it was IDP open day where students were welcomed to look for their respective universities booth and get to know friends even before they arrive in Australia.
FUSSA was given a table too and we were definitely excited to meet the new members that would be starting their journey in Adelaide.
Reaching there an hour earlier, it was time to set up the booth.
Our President was certainly happy to post with our poster.

A must-take picture with the whole committee. An awesome teamwork that all of us were able to come for this event.

There were other booths that were set up to prepare the students for Australia.
Some include asking them to sign for a prepaid card so that they have a sim card even before going Australia.
Others include informing them about the housing accommodation.
You definitely do not wish to arrive in Australia without having any accommodation sorted out first.
We were even given free popcorns.
Well, not only to us that is, but to everyone.

Best item given out that day goes to KOI!
I was amazed that they were giving out KOI but it is definitely up for grabs.
All of us were happily munching on popcorn and sipping our KOI.
In the meanwhile, we were told that there would be a seminar talk inside the conference room.
And after the seminar has ended, that’s when the students and parents would be walking around to their respective university booth to find out more details.
While the time passed, we decided to entertain ourselves.

Who says we can’t have fun while working.
That’s what we want students to know, that while studying you can have fun too.
And FUSSA aims to ensure that a student’s life does not only revolve around studying, but to ensure that there is a balance between personal and social life.

And here comes the new students!
We have searched high and low for our new students and we have found them!
Contact details were exchanged to ensure that when they arrived in Adelaide, they are able to contact us.
We also explained to them briefly about the public transport in Adelaide, as well as the services that Flinders provide to pick new international students from the airport to their destination accommodation. That’s our well-spend afternoon at Orchard Hotel and now we can’t wait for everyone to meet the new members this year!
I hoped everyone has enjoyed their Summer break to the fullest and is ready and all pumped up for another year at University.
